There are days  when I feel  like  discontinuing this blog.  Yes, I’m  seriously thinking about it.

  1. Would be interesting to know why Ren. At the same time, though I already know you have a popular blog to think about – plus rl (real life). And with little time spent on anime / manga, it’s pretty understandable.

    1. Time is not the problem, actually.

      To be honest, I do not know how to “approach ” / discuss a topic. I am clueless as to the technical aspects of animes. I can only talk about what I think of the anime in a very subjective manner, and more often than not, in a very biased way, at that. I am holding back for a while because I have a few things on my mind that I have been wanting to put out here for a long time.

      Anyways, I’m just thinking about it. ^^

      1. The technical aspects are; story / plot, character, art, sound. They are universally used in any entertainment eg tv shows, movies. You just write about what you liked about each of them. Best thing to do is watch it for enjoyment. Take a break, then go over it analysing the show. The last bit is a bit rich coming from me xDD.

        You can break them down further; pacing of story, relate-able characters, (in)consistent art work, are the music memorable.

        Once you get abit more confident, you can use these. Use them only as a guide line. http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=575725

        draft out your thoughts on word. Use screen shots, or if text heavy use sub headings / quotes / different coloured fonts.

  2. I don’t know about you, but I keep my blog because I enjoy it. The fact others might find it interesting is incidental to the process. Welcomed but not necessary for its continuation.

    Meaning, if for whatever reason this blog no longer fulfils whatever function had you beginning it in the first place, then let it go.

    However, the excuse you give above is not a good one. Did you start out with the intent of discussing technical issues? If so, then learn them (time, patience, and time. Did I mention time?)

    As for the subject being subjective . . . pardon my french, but “duh!”

    Same with movie reviews, book reviews, meals you eat, music you listen to, politicians you follow or hate, relatives you like or dislike. In other words, everything is subjective, filtered through the lens of our own experiences, prejudice, likes and dislikes.

    Write what you want to say. Whatever it is, it need not fulfill any other role other than you wanting to say it. If someone finds it interesting, more the better, but if not, it’s still what you want to say, is it not?

    Here endeth my pontifications.

    1. No, I didn’t start out intending to discuss the technical aspects of the anime or manga. I did , in fact, say I would be discussing the plotlines, and the character of protagonists. The problem is, my ” prejudice ” , biases, and preconceived notions get in the way too much of what should be a fair and objective analysis of the manga… its plotline and its characters.

      Okay, everything that you said made sense. Thanks for the input. I shall continue on. \(^_^)/

    2. I like pasta. Specifically, I like pasta with butter and lightly salted.

      Say I go to a restaurant and order pasta. It may have won awards, be universally liked, and held up as the greatest pasta ever cooked but if it’s not the way I like it, I’m going to write about it in unflattering terms.

      I don’t owe the pasta a “fair and objective” analysis. I owe it my honest opinion.

      If I’m going to write about it, I’ll write about what I liked and didn’t like about it.

      Now, the readers . . . some will like what I like and find my writing useful. Others have no sense of what’s good and like pasta with marinara sauce.

      Regardless, they will both learn what they want from my writing. One might say “I got to eat there” because they liked something I hated (i.e. “Disperser is one f**ked up dude! What he hates is exactly what I like!”). Another might opt not to eat there because they agree with me (i.e. “Thanks, Disperser! To think I was considering spending my drug money on a meal! Now I know it’s not worth it!”)

      The point is, you can only write what you know and how things make you feel. Some might not agree with you, but that’s fine. You are not trying to convert them to your likes and dislikes; you’re just saying what you liked or disliked, and that’s all you can do.

  5. Yeah, to echo what has been said before, you shouldn’t have to feel like you need to analyze. Just feel free to write about what you like or didn’t like. Or maybe skip feeling like you need to review things and just write about what you love or hate about a character from a series, a certain couple, share some laughs about some funny moments, etc.

    1. And that’s what I’ve been doing. I simply don’t know a thing about the technical aspects of an anime, like, the lighting, the colors, the pacing, etc. To be honest, these don’t matter to me…. the plotlines and the characters do.

  6. I have been there as well. Feeling lacking of what to write but our blog buddies in here are pretty much on point about why and what we blog – we write about what we know and we like. Writing is expressing your personal views on a subject you want to write about Ren, regardless of the technicality of the content. Just write about everything you want to get across. It will be up to your readers to comment whether they find the articles informative or not, entertaining or not whatsoever. Just write what you wish to write about. Trust me, I have been there so many times. Problem is, I don’t have much time so I wasn’t able to blog frequently. But I’m working on it. See you around! 😉

    1. The irony is, there are thousands of mangas and animes I can write about……the problem is, the story lines are just a bunch of clichés . Oh, wait, maybe I can write about manga/anime clichés ! LOL In fact, I’ve been thinking about this for ages.

  9. You don’t have to sign off, to continue to figure out what you want to do here. Anyways, we don’t know how long we’re going to get you for, if you end up getting some law enforcement job, so we have to get our time in while it’s still possible.
