My First Time

Hi !  I’m renxkyoko  Iglesias, and finally,  I’ve created this new blogsite where I can write, to my heart’s content, about mangas that I read, animes that I watch, and occasionally, video games that I currently play.  I have another blogsite  where I write just about anything …. my politics,  slices of my life, work, travel, , except mangas and animes, sadly.  Check me out Here, if you’re interested to know more about me and my thoughts. By the way, the photo above is my manga collection.

Before I jump from the frying pan  into the fire, pardon the cliché,  I would like to warn you that first, I  don’t shy away from spoilers and secondly, I  I don’t write reviews of  mangas or animes. Instead , I write opinion on what I think of the plotline and of the characters,  and this may include my own preferences and biases. For example,  I run away from animes that expose too much of the female  anatomy. Humungous jigglng boobs and  numerous panty shots, anyone ?   And, if I’m going to write my opinion on that, it will consist of only 3 letters…. WTF !

So, what ‘s the latest animes and mangas  that I’ve watched ? For animes,  it’s Chrome Shelled Regios, FullMetal Panic, Noragami ( the latest episode ), and Fate/Stay Night, Unlimited Blade Works.  For manga…. * pause *….. here’s my problem with  Japanese titles…..  I’m very bad at remembering titles,  and the names of the characters,  and hopeless  with  Korean names. I  wish they’d name the characters George , Elizabeth,  James, and Alice…. in other words , Western names, but it’s allright…. I can just call them MCs or identify them according to their hair color and physical appearance. * the light haired guy, the blond

girl,  the male MC, or the best friend of the MC.  There are , however, names of characters that I will never forget…. ren and kyoko, the main characters of Skip Beat, and Kuo, Futaba, and Touma, the protagonists of AoHaru Ride ( Blue Spring Ride ) .

This is it for now for my first post.

Cheers, and  thank you for reading

.

  1. Okay, well as God would have it, my son, the biology grad student as you may remember, was in my office when I opened this. He may be a budding biologist, but he is a anime, manga, Japanese conversant, fantasy reading machine. He is highly impressed with you and this post.
    I just like you both.

  2. Look forward to this . . . My first exposure to Anime was Claymore, and I was impressed. Little did I know that I was looking at one of the better offerings out there.

I’ve been watching a few of the meager offerings on Netflix and Amazon (the free stuff) and it’s been hit-and-miss.

Yes, I’m a guy, but have little interest for “Humungous jigglng boobs and numerous panty shots”. For one, it makes me wonder about Japanese culture, but for another, it’s boring and puerile. Another thing I don’t like is when, to show emotions, the renderings change from what I consider beautifully animated figures to over-the-top, eyes flashing, mouths way open, flat renderings of the characters.

Anyway, I’m always on the lookout for decent Anime because I find the plots ambitious, the action well presented, and the characters interesting.

I am impressed at your collection. I think I might tend more toward digital purchases if I ever buy anything, but that’s an impressive wall.

    Looking forward to reading more.

    1. Claymore and Berserk are my first animes. The problem with these two is, though the mangas are already complete, the animes aren’t. Does Netflix have Claymore ? I know it has Berserk. I have the completed mangas of these two.

Netflix has about 94 animes. Hulu Plus has hundreds.

I can recommend a few animes that Netflix has….. P sycho-Pass ( I think you’ll like this, but Netflix only has the 1st season ) ) Moribito ( 1st season only , there’s a second season ), FullMetal Alchemist ( you’ll find 3 versions, but I recommend FullMetal Alchemist, Brotherhood, Death Note. I actually have a good collection of anime dvds at home, all boxed sets , and complete, except Bleach . Hunter x Hunter is good too. I liked it so much I watched it 2x, even though it has 5 seasons on Netflix, and it’s not completed yet. Attack on Titan is good too.

About the jiggly stuff…. well, that’s anime for you. I guess it’s fanservice. The good ones don’t have this kind of stuff.

      1. I saw Berserk streaming. Claymore I watched when I had the DVD subscription. Their DVD collection is larger than the streaming one. I have most of the ones you listed on my list (not Death Note – not my kind of story). I think I watched only one jiggly/nudity one (Freezing); I was going to stop watching, but the story grabbed me. The second season sucked and I stopped watching after one episode.

The first Arise was not bad, although not as good as Ghost in the Shell (which they don’t currently have). Samurai Champloo is OK, although I’m not in a rush to finish watching. Harlock was not bad even if the ending was both predictable and unsatisfying. The Irregulars was interesting at first, but it too lost steam.

There are a couple whose names escape me that I was watching, but they dropped out of the rotation.

I published this immediately without checking out other features, like side bars, etc. Anyway, you can come back here, unclick LIKE, then click LIKE again… you’ll see ” Follow this blog ? ” and click that. That’s what I do with blogs that don’t have the Follow option.

      1. Not true as far as I can see, and the box says “notify of comments” not posts.

I can set up the follow by hand (meaning, I can go to “Manage my Subscriptions” and manually enter the blog.

  4. So now I’m looking forward to your being my guide through this world and art form about which I know very little. I think its going to be loads of fun. I can’t find the button which you click to “Follow” a blog anymore but I want to come back, of course, and read all your posts. Hopefully I’ll figure it out soon. As I’ve said on the other blog, have a lovely Christmas, and well done on this new writing venture 🙂

Peter, go back and unclick the LIKE, then click LIKE again, then click ” Follow this blog ? ” Or write a comment again, and there’s this feature where you have to check a box, ” Receive the latest post via email” or something. But the better one is unclicking the LIKE. That’s how I follow a blogger.

      Happy holidays, Peter.

  5. *Whistles* that is one heck of a manga collection. Sweet I too like Chrome Shelled Regios, the FSN series as well :D. Noragami is pretty good too, haven’t seen the first season though.

Looks like ecchi (the ones with the jiggly stuff) anime are off the table then xDD.

    1. You should see it, it’s really good, though the second season is getting darker.

I assume the jiggly stuff are meant to be funny, or a fanservice, but to me, it’s gotten old. If it doesn’t add to the development of the characters, and doesn’t drive the story forward, then I think the creators should just stop it. The best ones , like FullMetal Alchemist, Hunter x Hunter, etc. don’t need this kind of stuff , unless the ecchi scenes are the ones that drive the story forward….. an example is the manga ” From the Town Where He Lives “. The main male character is pure and is in love with only one girl…. over 200 chapters are devoted to numerous girls seducing him, we all know how that goes, right ? I’m like, allright , we get it, he’s a one – woman man, so stop it already. The seduction scenes can get really old and tiring.

  6. So that is where got your name, from Skip Beat. That is cool idea. I really like your collection of manga. I know what you mean about names. Fortunately, if you read JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Phantom Blood, the characters have English names since the story takes place in London. Anyway, I look forward to more anime and manga :]

Do you notice most animes have English titles ? Like Kamisama Kiss… the manga ‘s title is Kamisama wo Hajimemashita ( I think, lol ) I hope I got that right.

      1. Okay, I clicked the box. I hope it works
I heard about that. Usually anime titles will shorten the titles in some way. I don’t think I can remember a title like that even if I studied XD.

      1. I am on shomi. And the cable company had the anime option. So I subscribe to anime, but everytime I ordered a episode it wouldn’t work.
So I just stream from anime rush or anime list.
I finally got to watch season 2 of psycho pass awhile ago! I was so happy!

      2. I’ve been waiting for the second season of Psycho pass. Netflix doesn’t have it yet, but I haven’t checked Hulu. * whispers* I got spoiled by my brother, darn it. He knows the ending. I hope there will be a 3rd season.

      2. Oh. * disappointed * I think You Tube takes it out. Funimation has the license , and hence it should get paid. Hulu and Netflix pay them, You Tube doesn’t.

    1. I used to watch a lot of animes years ago, then I stopped ( we bought the animes, so it was quite limited, and there were no anime channels before ), but since Netflix and Hulu Plus came out with the anime genre, I re-discovered the fun of watching anime, ( in 2015 ) and so I started watching it again.

  9. Am a big fan of anything slice of life and school life I do tend to stay away from fantasy but oh do they have confusing names and some have the same title. Am so glad I found a new partner in crime and I’d be more motivated to write about manga and anime that I read or watch. Here’s to many more manga and anime to come!! 😁😆😆

    1. There are really good fantasy animes , such as Noragami, HunterxHunter, etc. In fact, if you only watch animes, 90% of the time it will be fantasy. Mangas have more of romance and slice of life genre. On my site, I will be posting about animes that I like, and why I like them, and rate them, as well. In fact, I’m more a manga reader than anime watcher.

Thanks for being here. Cheers !

Hello there, I can’t find a way to comment on your site where I originally followed you from so I clicked around your giant factory of brilliant thoughts and interesting finds and stumbled upon this finally to comment (this is me saying-hey am not stalkin’ on ya in case that quickly crossed your mind *puppy eyes lol) sorry where was I? Yeah, I mean, thank you for following me back and I’ll consider you a benchmark when I go full gear in doing the stuff that we’re here for–express our thoughts and disappear in letters sometimes. You’ll only see my page on your blog feeds once in a blue moon but that’s okay coz I’ll constantly see yours on mine anyways. Yay! And just to segway and make a graceful exit, I think you’ve got more comic books that Imelda Marcos has shoes like seriously, WOW!
