Musings of an Otaku

It’s been almost 3 months since my last post.

I have not watched any ” new ” anime for ages, though I did re-watch a few animes that I like such as   Yakumo, The Psychic Detective, Mushi-shi,  Garden of Words, Have You Heard? I’m Sakamoto.  I hope to watch Castlevania, a Netflix Original, soon. Actually I ‘ve already watched the first episode, and am now totally hyped to watch the rest of the episodes, which are, sadly , just 4 , to date. I heard a few more episodes will follow.

I’ve noticed too that , just like Netflix, Hulu Plus has taken  so many animes off its list. I hope they don’t dump my favorites, such as Chivalry of a Failed Knight, and Engaged to the Unidentified. ( I can’t get enough of the little girl Mashiro….she’s so adorable and funny )

I’m also getting really annoyed at animation companies that do not make another season of animes  which are clearly and obviously unfinished, like Kamisama Kiss , Ouran High School Host Club, BToom, and yes, even Yakumo, the Psychic Detective. …..and because of this, I’ve come back to the birthplace  of my otakuness——->manga , where stories get resolved and finished. For example… Inuyasha.  In the manga, we get to see the lives of the main characters  years after the main events.  Likewise with Ouran High School Host Club, Kamisama Kiss, Wolf Girl and Black Prince, and others. Of course, I see to it I visit my favorite manga aggregator Mangakakalot everyday to check out the latest releases of some  favorite on-going shoujo series. At the moment,  I’m eagerly following  Bambi to DHole, Koi Oto, Fallen Angels, Tsubaki-chou Lonely Planet, and the most eagerly awaited Kurosaki-kun no Iinari ni Nante Naranai. This last one is similar to Wolf Girl and the Black Prince where the male MC is super obnoxious and the female MC is a doormat.  Don’t get me wrong, I ‘m not really into this kind of relationship, but more often than not, the guy falls off his high horse, and that’s what I want to see.

As for animes, it’s a good thing there is at least one I can look forward to watching… RWBY. The 5th Volume will come out in  Fall, and I hope the developers don’t renege on that.

Meanwhile , while waiting for good animes to come out on Hulu or Netflix , I play video games. I ‘ve put Bloodborne on hold, and have started playing Rise of the Tomb Raider. Next is Doom. I’m also binge watching The Defenders ( loving this show ) ,  Supernatural, and anything  about North Korea on YouTube.

So that’s it….. my musings.

Thank you for reading. Bye !

  1. Ouran I’m kind of glad didn’t get a second season. I liked the funny, silly comedy of the first half of the series so much more than the second half of the manga. I didn’t really want to see the anime get all drama-focused too.

    1. Ouran… The anime injected drama ( and worse, a new character )that wasn’t even in the manga, and that really annoyed me. I posted a rant about that because it was an out – of- character behavior by the male MC.

  2. Hope you enjoy the remainder of Castlevania. Yeah, it sucks that the season is only four episodes long. Oh well, quality over quantity.

It does suck when online services lose anime shows. Sadly they only have the rights to air a series for a limited amount of time. If you really love an anime buying the DVDs is the only way to make sure you have access to it forever.

Anime that never gets a proper ending is the thing I hate the most. Sadly many animation studios use anime as an advert for the manga/light novels. Did you like what you saw? Buy the source material to see what happens next because we aren’t making any more episodes. Boo!
